When Questlove said the album was 99.9% done last year I laughed because I’ve been waiting for this album like it was “Detox.” Now, one listening session later, the album is playing for the 2nd time in a row right now and, I feel like its a dream. Dreams do come true. Get a full listen after the break and make sure you support by purchasing it on December 15th NOW!

Throwback Thursday: K-Ci & JoJo – ‘Life’

By | Throwback, Video | No Comments

K-Ci & JoJo are a R&B duo, who began as the lead singers of the iconic R&B group Jodeci, with the DeGrate brothers better known as DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin. The gritty soul and silky vocals that these brothers possess makes it easy to understand why they have been so successful in both Jodeci and on their own.

“Life” was the first single off their second studio album It’s Real. It is also featured on the soundtrack for the 1999 movie Life. The lyrics, written by the duo and R. Kelly, can be interpreted in many different ways, but mainly tell a narrative about being imprisoned for life. The single peaked at No. 15 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. The song is undeniably funky, and K-Ci’s raw soul and JoJo’s backing vocals for the chorus make the single timeless and carry the track nicely.
