WhoSampled Presents: Wiz Khalifa vs. Empire of The Sun

With Wiz coming to New Haven, CT for a show at Toads Place tomorrow night, I am prepping for his Kush x Orange Juice mixtape dropping very soon. I just went through alot of my collection of Wiz’s music. I found that one of my favorite tracks so far has been “The Thrill” from his last mixtape “B.A.R. (Burn After Rolling”.

Now what most people don’t realize is the heavily synthesized sample is actually from a very successful dance record by “Empire of The Sun”. I was put on to Empire of The Sun by my friends Pete & Blake from Academy Printwear last year! When “The Thrill” dropped on 2dope last year I was so pumped because of the sample, and the fact that Wiz did the song justice! Listen to both tracks below.
